How does Kambo Work?
The word "Kambo" refers to not just the secretion of the Phyllomedusa Bicolor, the Giant Monkey Tree frog found in the rainforests of the upper Amazon but to the ceremony and the act of receiving Kambo.
A Kambo Ceremony is not typically something that is done for fun, but to rather purge, cleanse and heal oneself. Kambo is frog poison and it will make you feel uncomfortable. Small burns, known as "gates" are made on the skin and the Kambo is then applied to them. The immediate effects of Kambo are intense and unpleasant but are short-lived, usually lasting no more than 30-40 minutes.
The effects of Kambo can be felt in the Mind, Body, and Soul. In the wholeness that is you.
Mind
Kambo is made up of multiple peptides that have incredible healing properties on the Human brain.
These peptides not only increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, but they also trigger Serotonin and Dopamine release leading to a decrease in stress, anxiety, depression, and addictive behavior.
Body
Kambo has antibiotic properties and strengthens the immune system, while physically destroying pathogenic microorganisms.
Kambo is traditionally known to be anti-inflammatory, to relieve joint pain, heal eyesight, and ease pain. Additionally, most report boosts in energy and vitality following a Kambo ceremony.
Soul
On a spiritual level, Kambo helps to integrate our minds with our hearts and re-align our chakras. It's a common saying that Kambo gives you what you need, not what you want.
Kambo is also believed that it assists us in raising our prayers to “The Great Spirit” and is a multi-dimensional healer.
Sacred Ceremonies
A sacrament is a sacred ceremony with a spiritual significance; it conveys the outward expression of the faith you hold within. When you take an entheogen as a spiritual sacrament, you intend to receive healing, an initiation, and transformation facilitated by the effects of the substance; this type of ceremony is to be approached with preparation and humility.
Entheogen is a term used synonymously with plant and earth medicines such as ayahuasca, mushrooms, san pedro, and bufo. The term Entheogen means "to inspire the divine within."
The naturally occurring psychoactive properties offer a type of "medicine" to its users that may provide emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. Most describe a change in their self-perception after working with plant medicine; many who partake in a sacred ceremony with plant and earth medicines experience a spiritual awakening and transformation.
Respect for the ceremony is paramount when using an entheogen as a sacrament. The reverence we give them is directly related to the connection we feel toward our faith.
When we ingest these entheogens, we take in their grace and we commit ourselves to the journey they offer. In working with plant and earth medicine, we surrender control of the process and open ourselves to their ability to heal us.
